What To Do In Richmond – Weekend of 9/25 – 9/27
Once again, folks, we give you some suggestions for what to do with yourself this weekend. Check out an awesome tribute band, eat pork for charity, or sip mimosas while watching a classic movie. If the options below don’t float your boat, make sure you check out RVA News for more ideas.
First off, how could you pass up something that is billed on Facebook as “The Shermer High Class Reunion?” Furthermore, how could you pass up a U2 tribute band and a Cure tribute band on the same ticket? I don’t know a lot about The Imaginary Boys (Cure Tribute – I hear they are awesome), but I happen to know the dudes from Even Better Than The Real Thing (U2 Tribute) and they are serious about their U2. Here is a blurb about the band from one who knows:
“Even Better than the Real Thing is Richmond’s very own U2 tribute band. The four long-time friends and musicians that make up the band have loved U2 since they were wee lads, so putting together a tribute band was an easy decision. Their live shows are the stuff of local legend, including one that literally brought the house (and speakers, tables and part of a wall) down. They play eighties’ U2 songs like “I will Follow”, “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “Pride”, nineties’ classics like “One” and “Mysterious Ways”, and more recent hits like “Beautiful Day” and “Magnificent.”
The show is at The Canal Club, and tickets are $12 at the door.
Saturday and Sunday at 11 AM, the Bow-Tie Cinemas is holding their weekly Movies & Mimosas with Grace Kelly and James Stewart. An iconic, awesome movie, and mimosas. It is so refreshing to have a movie theater in Richmond that does cool stuff like that. Expect a full post on them soon.
Sunday might be a good day to run over to River Road to attend the Swinetangle - a benefit for the VCU Massey Cancer Center. Tickets are $25 in advance, $35 at the door (but only $10 for kids). With all-you-can-eat BBQ, all-you-can-drink Loveland adult beverages, and entertainment for the whole family, I’d say that’s a deal.
As always, I point to Richmond Inside Out for the what’s what in our fair city, and remember that if you want your event featured here on RichmondVAPresents.com, all you have to do is email me or post a comment. Fair enough, right?
