Katz and Graves of Sands Anderson Law Firm Will Discuss Penn State Risks and Preventative Measures

August 1, 2012 by

Sands Anderson lawyers Phyllis C. Katz, who practices employment and non-profit law, and Terrence Graves, a casualty and coverage litigator, will present “$60 Million and Counting: Lessons from Penn State” as a webinar on August 15 at 1:30 PM reviewing the preventative actions organizations can take to avoid risking their reputation and assets on the misbehavior of employees.

“The final cost of unfortunate actions among a few powerful and complicit Penn State administrators has yet to be finally assessed,” said Katz.

The victims, known and unknown, will now come forward with claims seeking monetary damages for the harm that was caused to them at such an early age, she pointed out. Beyond Penn State, employers, schools, non-profits and public organizations must learn about the dangers and risks posed by poorly implemented supervision of its employees and its duties to protect children.

The one hour webinar will cover the potential liability issues that lie ahead for both Penn State and The Second Mile. In addition, the webinar will cover defenses that may be asserted to such claims, recommended “good practices,” and tips on the hiring and supervision of employees and volunteers. The training is being co-sponsored by the Partnership for NonProfit Excellence and Virginia Commonwealth University. There is no cost to sign up for the Webinar at
