Comment on Cupertino’s New York Bagels & Deli by Toni

This review is not on the food quality at Cupertino's but yet the staff. The location at 1215B Main Street has the worst manager; her customer service skills need to be fine tuned! The cashier was polite, the cook was also very nice; but the manager was a pitbull with lipstick!

I ordered a wheat bagel with egg and cheese. When my order arrived I requested a jelly pack. The cashier went to oblige with my request when the manager came by and ensured the cashier charged me for the jelly. I paid the extra for the jelly with no qualms. When the manager walked by, still in my jovial mood I asked her why jelly is extra. I expressed that this is a bagel shop and jelly is a condiment, therefore it should be complimentary upon request. (There is no charge for ketchup or bbq sauce at McDonald’s) Her first attempt to deal with my question was lack luster. She simply stated they charged for jelly and that was that. Me being a stickler for customer service was unsatisfied with the response she gave me so I probed more; explaining jelly is a usual condiment with bagels... my tone was curious. Apparently this woman was not in the mood for my curiosity and she began raising her voice beyond a level I felt was acceptable and her tone, body language, and over all attitude was disgusting.

Eventually I demanded my money back which she refused!!! I threatened to call the police and she was still not budging. When I mentioned her lacking of customer service skills and repeated the famous phrase "the customer is always right" she replied "no their not!. I then explained to her that it's her customers that keep her doors open and she should work on her attitude. She made a remark that her doors are open and she then told me to get out of her store. Of course I refused and began to call the police.

At that moment I composed myself (I was on a break from work) and realized my time was very limited. So I took the high road and apologized for any misunderstandings that I may have initiated but kept that her customer service skills were at an all time low.

This is an altercation and review that could have been totally avoided, but since the woman never truly amended for her disgusting attitude this is my best way to fight back!

As I said the food was good....but my respect and dignity are worth more. To say the least... This store, nor it's sister location will EVER see me or my money again. Of course I'm going to spread this story to anyone who will listen. I'm sick of vendors treating their customers any way they feel. I understand they have feelings and can "wake up on the wrong side of the bed" like us all; but when your business is customer facing you'd better deal with it better than she did!! I work hard for my money and am selective about where I spend it; I don't have to feel underrated, I have OPTIONS! And I opt not to go there again! This was my first and LAST visit to that store!
Lastly, it was told to me that this woman has gotten into altercations with other customers before. This is hearsay but I'm prone to believe it! Thanks for listening!

And just one more comment for you…I am diabetic and I needed food, your establishment could have allowed me to sit on their outdoor patio for 30 minutes until they opened and I could have dinner…that’s all I wanted to do. And if I was of a certain kind of person I’d sue from tripping on that curb I spoke of in my earlier email to you. Again, I am expecting to compensated from the embarrassment of all of this. A coupon for the best dinner available would suffix. I can not tell you how upset I am over this !! I rate this restuarant a zero obviously !

And by the way there are much better steakhouses in Richmond, Va: Top of the list is Buckheads off Parham Rd, Morton's downtown and there's always Ruth Chris on Hugonet Rd. Flemings is just the one closest to my location.

Yesterday I had the worse experience I've ever had at this establishment. I WAS (and I do mean WAS) a very current patron of this restuarant, but I will never eat there again. The staff were the rudest I've ever experienced on this day. I was refused service because I had attended to wait either at the bar or on the patio until they were open for the evening. Apparantely they thought I had been drinking (not true) because I slipped on a curb while getting out of my car. I was told they would not allow me to eat their last night. Even though I've always enjoyed the food there, the food is overpriced and the quantity of the food makes the price not worth it. It is good food though and I have always enjoyed it. BUT NO MORE, I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE EMBARRASSED IN MY LIFE. They have lost a good customer and I intend to spread the word to everyone I know. Instead I ate at the Bistro at Stony Point Parkway for the first time and it was excellent. FLEMMINGS will never get my business again.

The Good Wine Guru's review obviously reflects the views of someone who was "comped" by the restaurant -- and whose review has, in turn, been "compromised." (There's nothing like a free meal to eliminate all objectivity!)

In truth, Flemings is a national steakhouse chain with food that's pretty average for the category. On a recent visit to the Richmond restaurant, three out of our party's four steaks were significantly overdone. I returned mine and it came back way overdone a second time. My fellow diners opted to not disrupt the evening further and soldiered through their meals. The wine was good, however, and the waiter removed my steak from the $400 check. My advice... if you want steak, buy a Weber and grill it at home. You'll be a lot happier and hundreds of dollars ahead.

It's really amazing what Short Pump has become in what seems like such a short time. It's not Richmond's only shopping location, but as far as malls and "big" stores go that area is now more or less the first place people I know think of going. It's a shame it's away from the city like it is but I understand why it needed to be where it is.

Lately it seems like it's really coming into it's own as a community. Less a place to go and more of a place to be.
