Angel Food Ministries Offers Solution to Rising Grocery Bills for Richmond Area

This year the U.S. Department of Agriculture predicts grocery costs will rise four percent or more.

Angel Food Ministries provides a way for Richmond families to cut their food bill in half without having to use coupons, despite rising food costs.

“We spend an average of $150 a week on our grocery bill, and that’s at Walmart. We buy mostly the basics but we also try and eat healthy with fresh fruits and vegitables,” said Jennifer Bailey of Lynchburg, VA, who feeds a family of three.

Angel Food Ministries provides meal boxes filled with frozen fresh meats and other basics for $30. The food boxes are filled to feed a family of four for a week, or a single person for a whole month.

Angel Food distributes the food boxes at various locations around Virginia towns, including 32 sites in or around Richmond

Angel Food provides food to anyone regardless of income, with no programs to join and no restrictions. And for $30 you get a full box of food. All you have to do is put your order in via the web, or in person, by the order deadline and pick up your box at your designated location.

March’s order deadline is the 15th. To order by the deadline, find your host site or order online.
