A Place to Pamper your Hand and Feet – Atir
Voted Best Manicures/Pedicures in Richmond Magazine’s Best and Worst of 2009, Atir is a rare gem in a town that has a nail shop on literally every corner. Located in the Promenade Shops (across from Short Pump Town Center) and the Triangle Park Shopping Center (across from The Village Shopping Center), this is a “Natural Nail Care Clinic”. They care more about the health of your nails than what color polish you choose, and the ambiance is clean, fresh, and unencumbered by the smell of overheated acrylic.
Rita Gregory, the founder of Atir, says on the Atir website that she had grown frustrated trying to find a nail salon that helped repair nails in regards to the health of the nail. She wore acrylic nails for many years and noticed that her natural nails were in pretty bad shape. Since she couldn’t get anybody to fix them for her, she educated herself on nail health and opened the first Atir in Roanoke in 1989.
I strongly recommend checking out one of Atir’s Richmond location for a real treat in hand and foot care. It’s for men and women, people who just want pretty feet and hands and people who have nail problems that need real help. The pedicure tubs are NOT jetted, which eliminates the possibility of cross-contamination, and the technicians use disposable tools when possible, surgically sterilized tools otherwise.
The staff is nice, friendly, knowledgeable, and really makes you feel welcome. If you have any “foot shyness” Atir is the place for you. They’ve seen it all – your tootsies will not scare them.
Ask about the possibility of getting your first manicure free – they do that promotion a great deal, and look into buying package deals that will save you a bundle on pedicures and manicures.
